Findings from continuous watching

The fastest-to-refill campgrounds, measured

A cancelled site doesn't stay open for long. We measure exactly how long: the median time between our check catching an opening and our next check seeing it gone, at each campground we watch closely enough to trust the number. Only detections made on a fast census cadence count — a slow check could miss a same-minute rebook, so those are excluded rather than allowed to skew the number.

Still measuring how fast cancellations get rebooked at the campgrounds we watch. Check back as more data comes in.

Methodology

How these numbers are made

A campground only ranks once we have at least a handful of resolved openings caught on a fast enough census cadence to trust the bound between our two observations. The median is the middle value of the last 20 such openings, newest first. This is a bound, not a claim about the actual re-booking moment — an opening could have vanished sooner than our next check caught it.
